Riding lessons
How they work
Student Requirements
Not much is required! I give lesson to both adults and kids (5yo+) and no prior riding or horse experience is needed.
The Discipline
At DJ Equestrian, both Western and English style lessons are offered. You can pick the one you prefer, or do both! More specifically, I specialize in Western Pleasure, Ranch Riding, Trail Riding, and Hunt Seat Equitation. But if there’s something else you’d like to try, let me know!
Learning Courses
I prioritize teaching my students well rounded horsemanship, not just how to be in the saddle. There are TONS of important things to learn about horses while you’re standing on the ground. Because of this, I take my students on 2 different learning tracks. Scroll down for more info.
The 2 learning tracks taught at DJ Equestrian are
Horsemanship and Horse Sense
Each track has has multiple levels of skill, starting with Rainbow and moving up to red, then yellow, and so on.
Horsemanship, Western and English, covers everything that you will learn about riding horses.
Horse Sense covers everything you will learn about horses and how to care for them. It also includes things that pertain to riding, but that are learned from the ground - like how to put a saddle on.
Recommended Plans
Repetition and consistent practice are HUGE when it comes to progressing your riding skill. Signing up for a plan helps you achieve both of those things. A plan is not required to take lessons, but it is recommended.

This plan allots for 1 lesson a week, and occasionally, in longer months, includes a 5th lesson for free.
