Introductory Lesson

Why It’s Important

(Even if you have horse experience)

Understanding

Understanding the nature of horses - how they think, move, socialize, etc. - is so very important when being around and riding horses. It leads to better relationships with them and it fosters safety.

Safety

Horses are big animals that are unpredictable and can easily hurt us. Thankfully, they usually choose not to. Learning how to be safe around them is the most important part to this lesson.

Foundation

Horseback riding is a complex sport that takes lots of practice. I want to make sure that the foundations, the most basic parts of riding, are prioritized and understood before adding more complex skills.

What to Expect

  • 5-10 minutes allotted for filling out paperwork

  • A presentation on horse nature and safety

  • Time in the saddle, going over some basics of horseback riding

  • Doing everything at your pace, making sure you’re comfortable each step of the way

  • We may give our horse some treaties at the end
